Off to milk-less dreamland
Isaac has had some fussing issues since we visited the pediatrician on Tuesday, screaming his head off at least once a day for mom and dad and the nice day care ladies. Tonight I thought perhaps he was clamoring for a snack before bedtime, and while he ate like a piggy, he starts screaming at me after a few minutes. My efforts to burp him over my shoulder are promptly rewarded with a veritable waterfall of milky spew on my hair, clothes, the floor, the chair, etc. Not much on Isaac, so he also issued forth a massive pee that breached the diaper so he could join in the dirty fun. After a change of clothes, I figure, empty belly = unhappy baby, since he is continuing to suck voraciously at my shoulder. But again, he fusses at me, I assume gas, and then he urps everything out all over the place. Maybe he's just tired? So we do our sleepy-dance for 15 minutes, but he continues wiggling like a little fishy. Because my right arm is twitching from holding His Heaviness up so long, I put him down in his crib with the pacifier, and lo and behold, he drifts right off to sleep. Sigh. One day I'll learn how to read his signals, one day I'll be a competent mommy.
We took our evening walk this time with our new friends, Clayton and his mom Mindy. Clayton is 3 months old, and Isaac and I met his mom and dad because they also keep an outdoor vigil in the evenings. Anywho, the four of us walked down to the Magnuson Park playfields, hoping to see the little leaguers slugging it out, but instead we saw leaping tongues of fire. No joke -- evidently lots of the brush caught fire or something in the park next to the fields. Lots of cops and a firetruck came by, but they were totally uninteresting to the boys, perhaps because they didn't turn on their sirens. Isaac and I had lots of fun being sociable, though -- so nice to meet other folks who are in the same baby boat and can swap tips with you.
