Day Five: Grandma Jane and her Angel Dress-up Baby
Today was Grandma Jane's last day in town, and according to her, Isaac was an angel. This is because he finally pooped for her this morning -- the first time she has gotten to clean Isaac Poop version 2.0 -- which made him much more able to enjoy himself. So they had fun playing, napping, and turning Isaac into a life-size Barbie doll, dressing him up in all his new duds from the Gap. They also watched Isaac's favorite TV show, The Wiggles, together. The Wiggles are these four New Zealander dudes who wear black pants and each have different colored mock turtlenecks and they sing songs and dance; they are famous for such memorable tunes as "Fruit Salad" and "Hot Potato". Dad thinks they are a bunch of girly-men, but if you put Isaac in his Jumparoo in front of the TV he gets insanely excited, jumping around and hooting and hollering along. We don't actively try to lull Isaac into our TV-watching coma (we are, in fact, tryingto extricate our own selves from it before he gets too old), but a half-hour of Wiggling surely can't hurt. Especially if it means Dad and I get to rest our biceps for a bit.
Grandma babysat Isaac this afternoon while Dad and I played hooky from school to go out on a real date -- we went out for lunch and caught a matinee of "The Bourne Supremacy". Amazing how one can take movie-going for granted before a baby comes along. Tomorrow we have to say goodbye to Grandma. We are very sad to see her go -- she has been such a help to us, and such a big pal to Isaac. It makes us feel very lonely to think we may have to wait until Christmas to see any of the fam back in Indiana again -- by then Lil Buster will probably be walking! -- but we soon will get a webcam so we can show people at home in real-time (and not just blog-time) the daily progress of our little growing human.
