Sleepless in Seattle

Isaac has decided, for the past two nights, to deprive everyone in the house of sleep by waking up every 1 to 2 hours or so throughout the night. Yesterday, for the first time since he was, oh, two weeks old, he decided 2 am would be a faboo time to just call off the whole sleep thing and get up and play, and that Mom should be awake to witness it all. So we are all in a lot of pain from the effort of keeping our eyelids open during daylight hours, and even they are only being propped open thanks to the miracle that is Seattle coffee. I have no idea why Isaac has taken it upon himself to start all this now. He seems to be extra stuffy in the nose when he wakes up, so perhaps it is an increase in sinus-clogging that he just doesn't want to deal with. He could be teething (for real this time! maybe), since he seems to want to chew on everything in sight. He could be in a growth spurt, since he seems to want to nurse about that often, and since he did something similar (though not quite so bad through the night) for his 3-month growth spurt. Whatever it is, it bettah end TONIGHT or else Mom is going postal.

Isaac is still not crawling, and I realized why -- he is totally lazy with this arms. I try this 'exercise' game with him where I hold him horizontally over a surface so that he has to stretch out his arms to support his weight, and then put a toy in front of him to entice him to try to 'walk' forward on his arms to get it. He can support his weight with his arms, but he collapses them at his elbows so he can get down on his tummy and reach forward for the toy, because he is a big cheater. I have noticed, though, that he is trying to push up his whole body with his arms on his own now that we have started this game, but he's not really steady with it yet and topples over more often than not. So THAT will be the crawling key -- when he gets that part down, then Mom and Dad need to really get serious about those outlet covers.
