Day off -- yippee!

Isaac's school is not in session today due to some teacher-enriching seminars they are having, so I volunteered to stay home from work today and play with my buddy. Gee, sounds like you really had to twist my arm on that one, doesn't it?

We have had the greatest day. First, my buddy slept "through the night" again last night, from 7:30pm till 3am (though I continue to be dumb and I didn't go to bed until closer to 11 myself). When he finally woke up for good at 6:15am, I met him at his crib and we stood there and gooed and grinned at each other for a good 10 minutes. Then we took our mommy-baby lovefest downstairs, where my little guy sat on my lap facing me and we practiced blowing raspberries at each other. He is getting now to where it seems like he wants to take turns, or to copy my raspberries. For example, if we are gazing at each other's lovely visages in the bathroom mirror, and I stick my tongue out with a "pfffblt", he'll do it too. It is tons of fun. Anyway, then we played on the floor and had our crawling-wannabe practice until it was time for his nap at 8:30, when Dad helped him go to sleep while I worked on our Christmas list webpage. He slept a long, luxurious one until close to 10, when it was time for a delicious breakfast of oatmeal + applesauce + bananas, all combined into a delectable frappe by those skillful Gerber chefs. After breakfast, I gave him a bath to make sure he's all shined up for the pediatrician this afternoon, and that she doesn't give me any lip about his mountains of earwax like she did last time. I then took my super-clean baby errand-running -- we went to the post office, where he grinned at the friendly postal workers who let me mooch some tape off of them, and we subsequently headed to Target to stock up on el cheapo diapers. And now we are home and Isaac is napping his last before he gets to be stuck in the thighs four times by those awful needles. More on that later tonight.
