Happy half-birthday, Isaac!
Today our dear buddy turns 6 months old. It is amazing that half of a year has already gone by. Such a cliche, but it's so true -- it really does go so fast.
Anyway, everyone was so excited for Isaac's pseudo-birthday that they threw a big dinner party for him at school. Well, in truth it was an all-school potluck to usher in the new school-year, but we are sure it was secretly planned on this date to celebrate the long life of our special guy. I made a pumpkin pie while Isaac napped on Dad's chest (see below for photographic evidence). We hobnobbed with his teachers there (I even got his head teacher, Nicole, to pose for a picture with the little tyke!) and with other parents, some of whose kids we already knew, but never had met the parents' faces to tie it all together. It was really fun to meet his teachers "outside" of school (though the potluck was actually AT school) so we could chat with them a little more and get to know them better. Isaac's teacher Jill revealed to us that Isaac is, and I quote, "the most mellow guy there" -- don't we all know it's true? -- though she says he has been very "vocal" about moving around by himself lately. She also suggested something that Dad had suspected for awhile now, that Isaac is the very favorite of his teacher Alicia. Isaac started, and Alicia started teaching, at the school at about the same time, so they bonded, being the new kids and all. We know they all just love our guy, though. As one parent of a fellow infant-room student put it, it's obvious that he has "such a good heart".
For his half-birthday, I introduced him to something that became an instant classic -- bananas. At first he tried to give me the peas-face with the bananas, possessing their weird texture and all, but very shortly he became even more upset with me when there were no more bananas to be had. Now, if there is also such fun to be had with veggies...
And Isaac was obviously so excited about his special day today that he just couldn't sleep last night. Oh boy! He woke up at 11:30 and then again at 3, when he stayed up with Dad for a couple of hours. Dad says he thinks sometimes Isaac's snotty nose (yes, it still pops back up from time to time, especially at night) stuffs him up so much that he gets uncomfortable and must wake up. Poor feller. We have to remember to ask about that at our doctor's visit on Friday.
