Pre-bedtime book bonanza

Right before bed each night, Isaac gets 30+ minutes of unadulterated mommy-buddy cuddle time as we sit in the rocker in his room and read whatever books he wants. It's great for Isaac because he is a major bookworm and loves pointing out things that he knows (for a rooster: "It's doodle-y-doo!") and doesn't know ("What's that?"). It's great for me because I get to squeeze his squooshy body as much as I like and bury my nose in his precious spun-gold hair, fresh from a bath. Dada snapped a cute picture of us tonight in the middle of "Goodnight Moon":

Girl, you look great! Your legs are so skinny!! Is it weird picking up Isaac and playing with him with the bump? And when is your due date - I'm not sure I remember seeing it!?

Thanks, Susie! Eh, it's a little weird -- he likes to try to jump on my tummy and poke on my belly-button like nothing's going on there, which makes me worry sometimes. Getting him in and out of the crib is a little tough. But I get the feeling that as the bump enlarges, things will get easier, like maybe he might grasp that mommy has a real live baby in her tummy, and then he'll have a nice butt-rest for when I have to carry him around. U.B. is due Feb 22, a little more than a month before Isaac's 2nd birthday.

Claire: This entry made me remember when Isaac would come to my office and sit in my lap and type and I would snuggle against his little neck and make a psst psst sound and he would turn and give me his sweet smile. I MISS his visits - thank goodness for the blog! He is getting so big...and so are you! Very glad you are getting a babysitter...no matter how much you want to be with your child...you need a break!

SUSAN!! You commented on my blog!! Mike comes home every night now, it seems, to tell me he's gotten another email about our blog from our faithful reader on the West Coast. I let him type on the computer keyboard here, but I'm sure it's not as much fun as your typewriter, since it's only entertaining to Isaac when the computer is ON and thus certain keys are off limits. I'll make sure to tell him you said hi!

Wow, he actually sits there for 30+ minutes to just read books? I'm lucky if I can get Mo to sit through 1 book without wanting to get down and run around like a crazy kid!
